TrainAtlas delay reports are independent weekly views of the routes that ran furthest behind schedule in selected countries. They are useful for understanding a recent pattern, not for judging an operator's official punctuality score.
What each report identifies
Every country report names its data source, published window and sample size near the top of the page. Reports use the data available for that country, so coverage and feed detail can differ by operator. A report does not imply that every train or every operator in a country is covered.
The delay metric
Where the data supports it, we measure arrival delay, not departure delay. Arrival is the clearest answer to how late a trip actually ran. Each route is ranked by its median delay across tracked arrivals in the stated week, so one extreme service is less able to distort the result than it would be in an average.
Thresholds and ranking
- A route must have at least 25 tracked arrivals in the report window to be eligible.
- Country rankings list routes whose typical, median delay is 10 minutes or more.
- "Late" means the share of tracked arrivals running five or more minutes behind schedule.
- Routes are named and grouped as shown in the relevant country report. Direction, sample size and source-window differences can affect a route's result.
How to read the results
A delay report is a snapshot of the stated week. It is not a forecast, a service guarantee, or an official operator statistic. Operators can use different definitions, windows and thresholds for their own published punctuality figures, so their numbers may not match ours. For a journey you are about to take, use the relevant operator app, website and station board for current information.
Updates and corrections
We update reports weekly and preserve older report pages as an archive for readers, while keeping them out of search results to avoid surfacing stale rankings. If a source correction or reporting error materially changes a published result, we will correct the page and note the change in the relevant archive. To flag an issue, email support@trainatlas.app.
